I have a number of bottles, excavated from a dump site that are at least 50 -70 years old. I was warned that it might detract from the value of the bottle if they're improperly washed, but I did brush them off and rinse them quickly. I don't want to go through the hassle of getting them appraised, but I know that they are worth a few bucks a piece, some more than others!

This bottle is clear glass, though it has some rust buildup on it that I couldn't brush off. There is a chip on the mouth of the bottle that I tried to photograph. It has seams running up either side of the bottle. It is 7.5" high, 1" diameter at the neck, and 2.5" diameter at the base.

Questions & Comments

i have run these finds through the dishwasher on a lower cycle and had wonderful results using normal dishwasher detergent and there was no harm to the value, also have used denture tablets and filled bottles with warm water to remove some debree from the inside then rinsed in warm soapy water, however if there is a bit of the lable left or paint that come off that would take from the value.
