I'm sorry I don't know exactly how much it'll hold. I pulled it downward pretty hard and it held up. So I think the purse would have to be realllly heavy to damage this holder. Under the gem it has a no-skid type surface to it too, so that holds it in place on the surface as well.

I can't make changes because there are bids and because it ends in less than 24 hours but thanks for your help. plus I was relying on the pic to show what it does...couldn't use another purse cuz every purse I own is Coach.
