Questions & Comments
Have you tested to make sure it is amber? This is really lovely. fanned and watching.
No I haven't. It was sold to me as amber. How exactly do you test? I have a few antique pieces that I bought from reputable dealers and it looks the same. But, I'm willing to learn something new.
Well, once I had a beautiful what I thought was amber, (I was told it was and it looked like it), I sold it and got it returned because it was not. So after that, I always test. here's a real simple way: Buoyancy test
Amber will float or be buoyant in seawater. This is why it washes up on the beaches of the Baltic after a storm. Salt-saturated water (about 2.5 tablespoons per 1 cup water) will show that imitations of amber will sink in salt water.
There are lots of other ways and you can look up on the internet, but I wouldn't think you want to heat or do anything like that. let us know what you find. Thanks it looks very pretty.
