Description

The listing, 5 90% Silver Washington Quarters, all D Mint Marks, 1941-D 1943-D 1944-D 1947-D 1949-D has ended.

I am using the American Numismatic Association grading standards, since the Red Book only grades the quarters of these years that have an EF grade. None of these are EF; however, all of them are 90% pure silver. Picture 1 shows the obverses of the 5-coin lot.

Pictures 2 and 3 show the obverse and reverse of the 1941-D, which grades as VG-, since the rims bleed somewhat into the lettering. There are 2 tiny rim dings at about 1:00 on the obverse and 2 tiny rim dings at 1:00 and 2:00 on the reverse.

Pictures 4 and 5 show the obverse and reverse of the 1943-D, which grades as G+ up to VG- because the rims are not complete, even though the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is clear. However, the TY in LIBERTY is almost gone, and the rims bleed into the lettering on the reverse. There is a teeny-tiny rim ding at 4:00 on the obverse.

Pictures 6 and 7 show the obverse and reverse of the 1944-D, which grades up to VG- since the rims bleed somewhat into the lettering. There is a stain at 3:00 and a rim ding at 4:00 on the obverse which decreases the value of the coin.

Pictures 8 and 9 show the obverse and reverse of the 1947-D, which grades F- at best, with the best rims of the lot. Although IN GOD WE TRUST is very strong, the rims on the reverse bleed into the lettering somewhat. There are about 9 tiny tiny rim dings on the reverse between 1:00 and 7:00 that I can see using a 5x loupe and my bifocals.

Pictures 10 and 11 show the obverse and reverse of the 1949-D, which grades VG up to VG+. The coin's patina is better than all of the others, and IN GOD WE TRUST is strong except for a slightly flat IN. The rims are pretty good, although they bleed into the lettering especially on the reverse and a little into the last letters of LIBERTY on the obverse.

All Listia rules apply. I can only ship when I receive your verified address. Shipping is with tracking, and the coins are placed in 2x2s with mylar protection. Thank you for looking at all my auctions!

Even a modest increase in "visual zoom" would help anyone, I think. :)

Great photos, too ... I sometimes get good photos.

I use the timer a lot, so that I can pause, relax, and let the camera "press the shutter" for me so I don't get "motion blur" in my images. Can't do that on the Ipod Touch though. :)

one reason i don't sell Lincoln wheats out here yet is because my camera just doesn't catch the detail in the wheat ears and i can't figure it out ... of course, i have a basic, entry level camera that i had to really work at to take pictures at the level that i do.

Icclint, may 21 10:02 am (pdt): listia support ticket filed against josephjesse: anyone reading this should consider immediately blocking this member who is running the exact same picture as mine in picture 1. otherwise this person can steal your pictures too. filed a support ticket with listia.

this is an obvious scam. this user, josephjesse is using the exact same picture of the 5 quarters i am running in a current premium
auction. i hope you will nip this in the bud immediately. clint stevens

I have this little microscope I got from Radio Shack some time ago that I pull out, then look for an ordinary object to "check out" and if i could mount a camera on that thing, it will be NEAT to have that connect to my computer to enlarge the image.... would open up some nifty avenues ... :)

i guess the microscope doesn't have any ports, which would mean you would need some type of specialized "black box" interface ...

This is a great auction. My fiance said those are worth $5 each just in silver. I was at wal mart in Customer service and I saw a quater laying on the coin star. Someone left it there. Later I tried to put it in a vending machine like 4 times and it wouldn't take it. Thank later in the day I looked at the date. 1964 and I noticed it was heavy. I asked my fiance and he said where'd you get that, and I told him remember the quater I found and he said yes, and I said it's silver than huh lol. and it is in really nice condition. Hope that happens again lol.

What a great story! My sister recently got a VF 1936 buffalo head in change which I thought was BIZARRE considering the chances of it happening. MaryMarie, it pays to check your change and the dates, because it really paid off nicely for you. I fanned you BTW. Thanks again for sharing your nice story ... so much better than the news on television!!!!

hi robert, all i try to do is to describe the coins i run so that bidders/buyers know what quality and grade of coin they are getting. i enjoy examining the coins with a 5x loupe and finding a coin's strengths and weakness, plus the 5x loupe allows you to see details you cannot see with the naked eye. thanks for your comment!

So tell me what kind of number would you feel good at letting them go ?
May 19th, 2013 at 9:21:24 AM PDT by
Original
Xpious, the only way I could come up with a number for a GIN, would first be to understand how Listia charges for GINs. If I did a GIN, I would need to know if Listia charges 10% up front for a GIN, or if they only charge 10% if the GIN is used. If you happen to know the answer to that, please let me know.
