from what I understand... is touse sprint service you do , but to just use it wireless no.

now remember, I heard it a friend who heard from a friend who ... well you know the rest. But what I was told is this... to use it as a "wi-fi" you do not need sprint service... Please check on that yourself though because I honestly do not actually positively know for sure!
