A bidder asked me whether this was the "soap" plant, then sent me this information. It is a soap plant. The leaves, stem and root are all used in producing suds {not like the created soaps in stores, but better for you}. Way back when men used stones to make weapons it has been found the plant was used for that purpose. Probably It's great for hands, face and body but care should be used when washing hair because it irritates the eyes. Back then it was pounded with some water to create the lather and a teasel plant {from thistle like plants that leave spikey cones} were use for combing of the hair. Basically the method is still the same today with creating lather except you don't have to pounded it. Instead it can get chopped really fine and moderately masticated blended with water with a slow speed chopper that spins or whatever is handy I suppose. Then it is strained saving the water {and the herb as it is possible to use it again} then whipped to make the suds or you can just use the water with the saponins in it without the suds being whipped up. It is gentle and highly effective. It can be blended with pyrethrium plants {flower part only} to repel fleas, ticks, and lice on humans and animals when they need to be bathed for such. It can also be dried and stored after being chopped.
